The Loving Little Pelican

Journalist and Writer PHONG THU (1934 - 2020) devoted his entire life to writing for children, producing nearly 500 works across genres—poetry, short stories, novels, and animated film scripts. Some of his poems were set to music, becoming beloved children’s songs.
He received: l First Prize in the 1968 Children’s Literature Competition (organized by the Vietnam Writers’ Association, Kim Dong Publishing House, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization); l Hanoi Arts and Literature Association’s Award (1969); l Silver Lotus Award at the 1970 Vietnam Film Festival.
NGUYEN THI TRANG (pen names: Thu Trang, Ha Trang) is a scriptwriter and editor at Vietnam Animation Studio, specialized in children’s animation scripts. She earned:
l Two Golden Lotus Awards for Best Screenplay;
l Multiple accolades at the Vietnam Film Festival and Golden Kite Awards.
BUI XUAN QUYNH is a freelance illustrator known for vibrant, distinctly Vietnamese artwork, she has been collaborating extensively with Kim Dong Publishing House on various children’s book projects.
